Sign gantries are particularly vulnerable as a result of their exposure to wind effects, nowadays exacerbated in an era of climatic instability.
Their location, directly over circulating traffic, their growing age, and designs that facilitate fragile failure, albeit partial, are more than enough reasons for these structures to be at the top of asset managers concerns.
At Betar we have a long experience managing these structures, working with Clients in Portugal and Spain. In 2005 BETAR introduced a dedicated management software - GOA Pórticos, supporting management activities for these assets, including, among other tasks, inventory, visual inspections, visibility inspections and assessment of structural safety.
